Three new team members have been appointed to the Wellington Community Fund.

  • Tracey Sa has been appointed the Operations and Governance Coordinator;
  • Diane Tunoho Kaitakawaenga Māori; and
  • Taase Vaoga the Community and Funding Manager.

Chief Executive Sue McCabe said she was delighted to announce the three appointments. These came after the resignation of staff members and the completion of an operational review to look at how WCF was set up to deliver on its strategy.

Tracey Sa (Samoan – Leauva’a, Vaivase) has significant administrative experience across the public and private sectors. Tracey is a member of PACIFICA Incorporated’s Whitireia Branch and attends the Pacific Island Presbyterian Church – Newtown, serving in the Children’s Ministry.

Diane Tunoho (Raukawa ki Uta; Raukawa ki Tai) has an extensive background in Māori education, particularly in the primary and tertiary sector.  She continues to teach te reo Māori evening classes for Mumu Reo. Diane was previously a Wellington Community Fund trustee.

Taase Vaoga  (Ngāti Rāhiri – Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Pāmoana – Whanganui, Hāmoa) has a broad background spanning community development, philanthropy, governance, change management and product and programme management. Her philanthropic experience includes working at the Te Rourou, One Aotearoa Foundation and leading research for other grant makers.

 “WCF has been in a period of transition. The new team is looking forward to getting to know the communities and stakeholders that are part of our vision of thriving communities across the Wellington region.

“The new team is fortunate to inherit the strong foundations their predecessors built. We also acknowledge the contribution of Vesna West who has been contracting with us since February.

“From a strong field of candidates, we were able to select three people with broad skills, experiences and perspectives who know and are committed to the immense contribution communities and not for profits are making every day.”

Tracey and Diane have started with WCF, and Taase joins the team in mid-July.
